How To Keep Yourself Warm When Camping

We all know that shelter and staying warm are key components of surviving. In a true survival situation you will need to rely on what you can find around you however there are some pieces of gear you can take to make your camping experience a little more comfortable.

For those of you have does expeditions or survival courses you will know how important you outdoor clothing to keep the heat in. Staying dry is a precursor to keeping yourself nice and warm. When you have wet clothes it is a lot harder to stay warm and you could be at risk from hypothermia. So waterproof items of clothing, like jackets, are essential. The well known Gore-Tex jackets are indeed worth the investment and offer a superior level of protection against the elements. In addition these jackets tend to be light to travel with.

Naturally a well made sleeping bag is an essential item to keep you warm during the nights. Sleeping bags that are filled with goose down feathers are by far the warmest sleeping bags you can purchase and are much warmer than synthetic alternatives. Goose down comprises of the small fluffy feathers of geese which are very good at keeping the warmth in. The small pockets of air trapped by these feathers are then heated by you and provide you with a warm sleeping location. In addition it’s good to know that these sleeping bag are easily compressed and therefore take up less room in your rucksack.

Of course this is all a way to keep warmth in what if you are not already warm then you need to get a good fire going. Matches can be helpful when it comes to getting a fire started as quickly as possible. Many people now also pack accessories such as flint sticks, which are a convenient way to get a fire started and will not run out.
