Performance Car Hire – a Porsche a Day Keeps the Boredom Away
If you are itching to drive a performance car but you’re not really sure that you want to risk that kind of cash on the highway, you might want to scratch that itch through a performance car hire. Renting a performance car, while very costly in itself, doesn’t come anywhere close to the kind of monetary and personal investment it takes to purchase one.
We will give you some idea of rates, because what sort of fun would it be not to know what this kind of rental costs, based upon a Monday through Thursday rental. It is good to note, however, that these cars usually come with very stringent mileage costs. Most of the car hire companies will give you 100 miles free, but from there on it’s $1.00 per mile and up. They aren’t just going to rent these beauties to pimply-faced teenagers either; there are age restrictions and hefty security deposits. They range from one performance car hire company to another, but the age restriction is usually 21 to 25 and down payments can start at $5000.
Also, when searching to rent a performance car, remember that the term exotic is relative and includes what you would consider performance, high performance, and luxury cars. That is why in most of these fleets, you will find the Hummer H2 and Cadillac Escalade right alongside of a more “exotic” vehicle.
Now we’ll reveal some of the performance car hire rates we were able to find.
The Ford Mustang Shelby GT-H is high performance enough to do zero to sixty miles per hour in 3.9-4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 195 MPH. Its rental rate is about $150 USD a day, and you can rent one from Hertz.
You can rent a Hummer H2 for around $229 USD per day. You can drive this to your mountain or sea shore retreat and look much better doing it than you would in some standard SUV.
Maybe you prefer heading for that retreat with your backpacking or sunbathing gear stowed in the back of a Cadillac Escalade. That will cost you about $330 USD a day.
The Porsche 911 Turbo is a performance car hire with a 480 horsepower twin turbocharged engine. Zero to sixty MPH in 3.7 seconds at a top speed of 193 MPH will cost you about $499 USD a day.
Renting an Aston Martin Vantage will cost you about $745 USD per day. This car goes from zero to sixty MPH in about 5.1 seconds, with a top speed of 175 MPH.
Steeling yourself behind the wheel of a Dodge Viper for performance car thrills along curvy roads will run you about $749 USD daily. It’s well worth at least a day to experience the serious sports car power of the Viper’s V10.
At $1450 USD per day, the Lamborghini Murcielago is king performance car of our list. It features twelve cylinders of 580 horsepower, does zero to sixty MPH in less than four seconds with a top speed of over 200 MPH.
Renting one of these cars can be more than exhilarating and save you the cost of plucking down big time dollars just to find out that your performance car makes your legs cramp. Besides, you can get a lot tougher test drive through performance car hire than any of the dealers would allow under ordinary circumstances.
