Few Things to Check in Handheld LED Flashlights before Buying
Flashlights of new generation are handheld LED flashlights. If you are out in the dark and that is an everyday thing for you, then LED flashlights are a necessity for you. Flashlights are an important gadget that helps us in seeing distant things and makes us feel safer especially when you are out in the dark alone.
LED flashlights have a wide variety of use. During an emergency like when lights go of in your house, it can be a blessing to have a flashlight around instead of you having to carry candles all around the house. It is an indispensable tool for outdoor enthusiasts like hikers, bikers, hunters and fishermen. Also it has many uses for many night workers like security guards, construction workers, fire fighters, police, night time travellers and many more. And if you can not find any use for yourself, it is still better to keep one handy for any kind of emergency.
Handheld LED flashlights are much brighter than battery operated flashlights. This might turn out to be a bit more expensive on your pocket but they are still worth the money. You do not need to change your batteries or bulbs in LED flashlights frequently. These can be as light weighted and as compact as other flashlights and does not bother you to hold them even for a longer duration of time. Lumens are one way to measure the brightness or light output power of LED flashlights. One important to know is the difference between wattage and lumens. While lumens mention the power output, wattage usually specifies the power consumption by a flashlight.
In handheld LED flashlights, the power output is usually from 10 to 100 lumens with 40 being the average. But for specialized night time professions, people do go for flashlights going up to 500 lumens as well. One more thing to check out before buying a flashlight is to check if it is waterproof. Again there is a difference here. If you are checking out for a waterproof flashlight which would still work in rains or splashing water that is different. These mention IP4 rating or less for being waterproof. But if you want a flashlight which would work in the depth of water while swimming, you might have to go for a complete water resistant LED flashlight which mentions at least IP7 on it. Beam distance is another measurement that you can check out before buying that necessarily speaks of how far you can see in an open field.
So even if you are buying LED flashlights online, be wise and check for these standardizations across the online portals for better selection of your flashlight.
