Welsh sporting actvities to do on holiday
Need some advice in choosing the next place to go on holiday to? Consider a short break in Wales, espeically if you enjoy your sports -heres a list of actvities to do while your down here.
- Caving. Wales has some of the best underground passageways and tunnels in the UK, available for you to explore. Other than some of the caves being inaccessible after heavy rainfall, caving is done all year round. You’ll be taken underground in small groups with a guide to see the subterranean caves that few people will ever get the chance to see. Half days are priced from £35, with a full days caving costing £55. Caving can be done in snowdonia, Gower Peninsula and the Brecon Beacons.
- Coasteering. Featuring a combination of climbing, cliff jumping, scrambling and swimming that originated in Wales. Summertime is when its most popular, but the later it gets in the season the more chance for abit of swelling to make the experience much more interesting. You’ll be in a group of about 2-8 people and led by a guide on a route chosen on based on the experience and abilities of the group. Places available for coasteering are the Gower Peninsula and the Pembokeshire and Norh Wales coast.
- Surfing – Wales has some great opportunities to go surfing in, with lessons for beginners available if you so choose. Group or one to one lessons are available from the surf schools, which also do ‘women only weekends’. Prices for a half day are £20 to £40 for a full day of surfing the waves of Wales. The sea is at its warmest during late summer and early autumn, and most of the surf schools are open from Easter to October, but that doesnt really stop the more experienced surfers going at any time they want to ride the waves. You can surf in South Wales, the Gower and Lleyn Peninsulas, Pembrokeshire and Anglesey.
- Diving. Wales has a variety of great diving locations from offshore islands, to wrecks and Marine nature reserves. The 2 day open water diving course starts from £200, and the basic courses are about £55. The best times to do this would be late summer, early autumn, when the water is at its warmest. Diving can be done at the Llyn and Gower Peninsulas, Pembrokeshire and Anglesey.
